Leeds let’s play together

Being active is great for everyone and helps children be happy, healthy and sleep better. It also helps children’s brains develop so they can learn better. Have fun!

Download and print the Activity Chart (PDF 2MB) and write or draw how you played together each day.

We would love you to share some of your suggestions for getting more active with your children! Here are some of the tips we have received already:

  • "I love to go for a walk with my little boy, nothing better than wellies on and splashing in muddy puddles"
  • "We love an indoor disco to work up an appetite. Make your own musical instruments and get those arms and legs moving!"
  • "My 4 year old loves the indoor obstacle courses we create – sofa cushions on the floor for stepping stones, some string creates a skipping rope, a bucket and scrunched up paper become target practice etc. He loves to beat his previous time!"
  • "I have a three year old little girl and we’ve recently started creating our own I-spy trails. We each think of 5 things to spot on our walk to the shops, and the first one to spot all 10 items is the winner. It’s a great way to make our walk more fun and stop her from thinking about tired little legs!"

If you have any more tips you would like to share with us, that we can add to this list, please email them to jan.burkhardt@leeds.gov.uk. We’d love to read them all!
