Portage
Portage is a home visiting teaching service for families of pre-school children with additional needs. Portage empowers parents and carers to become teachers of their own children, in their own homes with support from a trained Portage Home Visitor.
Barnardo’s deliver the Portage Service in Leeds. Children can be referred to the service between the ages of birth and two and a half years old, if they have delays in their development.
The Portage Service is commissioned by Leeds City Council and there is no charge to families accessing the service.
Parents and carers can refer themselves to discuss access to the service, or any professional working with them can make a referral. See the leaflet for more information, or call
